Reader Appreciation Sunday, 1/23/11

Welcome to this week's Reader Appreciation Sunday! I am really pleased to announce this week's reader blog, I've become totally enchanted with it as I've read it in the past few weeks...

Fairytale a La Mode!

Fairytale a La Mode is a classically-geared blog with a beautifully delicate, fairy-tale aesthetic that reminds of oil paintings and lost castles. It features plenty of romantic, antique-styled outfit shots and even some Victorian Maiden princess-y wig tutorial videos! There's also a great post with one dress, five ways - styled into coordinates with adorable names like 'Cinnamon Tea Time' and 'Rapunzel Hime'. A great companion style for girls who can't choose between mori girl and classic lolita. Some beautiful photos from the blog include...

a gorgeous side view of her Victorian Maiden-mori girl inspired wig tutorial;

A cute outfit shot of her dolly-kei-meets-fairytale-maiden style!

This week were also some heart-warming reader comments! Here are a few favorites:

Elizabeth Ann from She's a ManiaQ
OMG, I couldn't even help myself! I went to MintyMix's site and checked out their wigs since I saw how natural and cute yours looked. I then ordered my favorite one and I should receive it in 2-3 more days (right on my birthday -'w'-)!! I came back and looked at your pix of your wig again and realized that I had ordered the exact same one, O.o" Thank you for inspiring me and I cant wait to make a coordinate with my first wig. In fact, the whole outfit would be my very first lolita coord ever!

Not only am I really happy to send MintyMix business (she has AMAZING customer service, I can't even tell you what a pleasure it is shopping with her!) I am really excited to hear that Elizabeth Ann is putting together her first lolita coordination, inspired by this blog! I hope that this is the blossoming of another beautiful lolita!

Janie from Blossoming: 8 Checkpoints for Young Lolitas:
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I've looked EVERYWHERE for a great post for young lolis (i'm 15) and I hadn't found any until this! You're one of my inspirations and I think all of your outfits and blog posts are super helpful and so pretty! Sorry if I sound weird - I'm just really happy! :) Thanks again!

This is pretty self-explanatory - this article did exactly what I wanted it to do and put a young lolita happily on the road to frills and fortune! This is exactly why I keep writing!

Mac from Macoto's Princesses:
This art reminds me of a cartoon I watched when I was younger, Han Christian Andersen's Little Mermaid. Ok, I lied. I watch it now too. <3

In case you haven't seen which Little Mermaid movie she's talking about - you must watch it! I have an ancient VHS of it, and even with its age it is one of the most beautiful animes - it's done in the original shoujo style, rather similar to the work of Macoto Takahashi. Here's a screencapture of Marina, Hans Christian Andersen's heroine, with her prince:

The chintzy 80s rainbow, the flowing hair and cape, rainbow bubbles, and giant eyelashes for everyone. What's not to love? Even Ariel gives it 5 out of 5 starfish ;)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you next week (...tomorrow...)! Until then...

with chiffon kisses,
