Alice's Adventures in Photomanipulation

I've always been a graphics dabbler, as shown by the fact that Lolita Charm has my own graphics and designs (for the most part). I've even been interested in fantasy photomanipulation - where the magic of image editing takes several unrelated images and turns them into an illustration. I'm still practicing and learning as I go, but I ended up with these two photomanipulations done to the theme of Alice in Wonderland (and Through the Looking Glass).

I like the pastels and dreamy blue color of this photo. The purple smoke adds a very eerie fog, as well.

This second piece is done with an older photo of myself in Milky-chan, with the theme of the forest where things have no names. This one didn't come out quite as well, but it's a nice contrast to the cool, dreamy colors of the piece above.

I'd like to do another, but I'm not sure which Alice in Wonderland scene to pick next. Which scene is your favorite?

If you're interested in learning photomanipulation for your own photos, search through devianart under resources with the keyword tutorials. Trial and error is really the best way to learn - nothing will come out perfect the first time, so don't give up! But if you keep at it, it can be a really fun hobby to play with using your lolita photos of yourself or your friends. Castles, giant cupcakes, or even scenes from your favorite books or movie - what else can you think of?

I love the colours in the first picture and the proportions. You should do another scene with small alice and big surroundings. Maybe an animal also. :)

@Charloli: Yes, I tried a different technique that didn't quite work out... oh well, back to the drawing board!

@MissEmilyJane: That's an interesting one! Maybe roses??

I like the first one the best, but I love them both! As for ideas for more, my favorite part of Alice in Wonderland (the novel) was always the scene with the Duchess, and all of the pepper. Also, the caucus race, the part where she encounters the cheshire cat for the first time, or when she is in the talking flower garden (more like from the disney movie I suppose). These are really cool! Would you mind if I snagged the first one for my wallpaper?

Lighting is key - if the light on the picture of you is coming from a different direction than on your background it won't look real.

Have you tried this?

It would be great for when 'Alice' gets giant!
