Berry Sweet

One of my favorite spring and summer themes is fruit! Specifically, the strawberry and cherry love so prevalent in lolita fashion. Bright, shiny red berries make a great edition to prints and ginghams, whether you want to wear them with a sweet style, a country air, or a pop-kei taste. Here's a quick taste of everything berry...

Don't feel like you need to wear a fruit-printed dress to get the feeling - any ordinary dress can benefit from a touch of berry. Consider adding faux strawberries and cherries to your hair, nails, or even just a pair of earrings. I am loving these earrings from Nile Perch, but rather than hunt them down and ship them, it'd be just as easy to put together your own.

These DIY cherry earrings couldn't be easier - you may even already have these items in your crafting box! You'll simply need some earring hooks, four faux cherries like the kind you can get the craft store (check the floral department, or the section they keep fake fruit), pink plaid ribbon (or any style of ribbon of your choice) and gold jewelry finding 'clamps' like the kind used to finish off a necklace. Use the 'clamps' to fit over the cherry stems, and then connect these to the earring hooks. Then simply tie a ribbon bow around the clamps, with a drop of glue if you'd like added security. For perfectly shiny cherries, consider coating your fruit with a layer of clear nail polish.
