Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope all my readers have a wonderful day filled with pink roses and chocolate  - even if you have to buy it yourself! Go splurge a little, you deserve it!

Okay, I know you're all dying to know who won the Hawaii Kawaii giveaway! This was a very popular giveaway and it seemed people loved using the new 'points system'! We'll definitely have to try this again in future! Anyway, without further ado...

The winner is...

serepuff!

Congratulations, serepuff! Please send an email to lolita.charm@gmail.com with your name, address, and t-shirt of choice, and I will forward your information to the owner of Hawaii Kawaii! I hope you enjoy your new prize!

I couldn't resist the urge to use Valentine's Day as a theme, so of course I got dressed up for my mother's annual Valentine's Day Party! Red is a challenging color for me - I just don't get it! So I had to give it a whirl ;)

What I wore for last weekend's Valentine's Day party:

Sunday: Secret Love Letter Coordinate

I bought this dress a while back and besides a half-hearted attempt at Christmas, I wasn't sure how to wear it. The dress has gorgeous ruby ribbons, gold trim, and giant rhinestones in gold settings, so I haven't the heart to sell it. I even have the AP ad hanging on my wall, so I knew there had to be a way for me to wear it. I started by using the ad for inspiration - the pink edged cutsew, as I have no pink blouse; and pink socks. Then I decided to whip out my 'old school challenge' piece, this vintage white apron. It was a little long, so I simply rolled it up at the waist. The apron fueled me into a very vintage, Betty Boop feel with pouty lips, a short blonde bob, and my glasses for a waitress-y feel. If I could name this outfit I'd call it Maude, something really like a 50s' diner waitress!

The makeup was about over-emphasizing the lower lip for a big pout. I daubed on some bold pink lipstick and gave it a sturdy coat of lipgloss, and then added some chunky falsies on top for a 'winged' look. I tried out this blonde bob again with a deeper part... still not sure if it's my style.

I took this shot in my bedroom by accident with my self-timer! The light turned out very cool, but I could only get one other shot in a similar style...

This one is my favorite! Lucky accident that it turned out just right!
