Reader Appreciation Sunday, 1/30/11

Welcome to this week's Reader Appreciation Sunday! It's my little way of saying thank you to the amazing readers and community of Lolita Charm. You always inspire me and bring out the true beauty of the lolita world. So... thank you!

I am really happy to introduce this week's reader blog, as she's been a long-time and loyal 'regular' in the Lolita Charm comment threads for years! Meet...

The Weekend Lolita

Andie is the American lolita behind the lolita blog The Weekend Lolita. From makeup reviews to outfit coordinates and introspection, this blog has what you need - everything but the kitchen sink! This week my favorite post is her 3-coordinates-one-JSK post, where she coordinated this super cute Innocent World mori-lolita style:

I am a huge sucker for crochet lately, it seems like the perfect thing for early spring and late winter. The warm milk tea color of this jumperskirt is also perfect for this time of year, and the pop of blue really brings the outfit together!

This week we also had some wonderful reader comments & insights!

Kittydragon from Punk Rock and Formal Beauty:

This post is great! Thank you for taking the time to share this with us. One of the reasons I love your blog is because you encourage girls(myself included) to be themselves no matter what. Every time I read a new post it's like a little pep-talk, saying "love yourself as the Lolita you are." I will admit you are the reason I started dressing Lolita. I read your blog about a year and a half ago and found the courage to embrace this beauty. I think it is important for every girl to know (Lolita or not) that they are beautiful not matter what they do, what they wear, who they are, and your blog has always done that for me. Thank you Victoria!

I'm really happy that you've found the courage to start dressing in a style that makes you happy & feel beautiful! I am very happy that this blog could facilitate that!

Good lord, I know how all this goes. I'm albino, and obviously being born like that, I've gotten the weird reactions to my hair and skin all my life. It just felt normal. Thus, it didn't feel like anything too out of the ordinary when I thought I'd start collecting/wearing hime gyaru and Lolita when I could. I still only have 3 Lolita pieces, and I usually wear them sans petticoat, but even so, between my style of dress, my nail art, my naturally white/cream hair, and my bubbly demeanor, I get a lot of attention, good and bad.

I think we're all willing to admit that we enjoy the compliments as they come, but I've gotten everything from "What fairytale did you just come from?" to "Holy shit!" I don't really count weird looks anymore.

But I have friends that are also into J-fashion and Lolita (it's popularity is exploding in Seattle), a boyfriend who loves his "Snow Princess" and how she dresses, and the online communities to make me feel connected. And keep that in mind, girlies. Despite what /cgl and drama would lead you to believe, we're all in this together.

Truer words were never spoken - we are in this together. The internet needs to be our tools to connect to each other, not splinter and ostracize apart.

It was great to be able to read that. It rings so true! I don't think I've ever commented on your blog, sorry, but I'll try to from now on! It's important to let you bloggers know when you're especially appreciated :)

I thought it'd be appropriate to appreciate your right back on Reader Appreciation Sunday, Rachel! ;)

SweetnessofOz from last week's Reader Appreciation Sunday!:

Today I went out with my friends to the city. ^^
I wanted to wear lolita to the outing but lately I've felt a little too depressed to wear it. Reading this post in the morning got me into the mood again. Thank you! ^u^

I hope you all have a wonderful week! Until next Sunday, keep rockin' that formal beauty ;)

xoxo,
