Dances of Vice: Toyland Holiday Ball!

This weekend I was given the marvelous chance to model again for Kelsey Hine of I Do Declare at the Dances of Vice Toyland Ball! The fashion show was the main attraction, along with a bevy of other performers including Drew Nugent and the Midnight Society, the ever-wonderful Minsky Sisters, and Muffinhead the Exclamationist! I Do Declare, and indie lolita company based in New York City, themed the fashion show to the ball theme, secret life of toys, with a large dose of Nutcracker flavor!

I nearly died when I found out I was cast in the role of a pink-haired Marie Antoinette! My pink hair (my REAL pink hair, with freshly colored roots!) was constructed in a sugary mound of Rococo style, dusted with white hairspray like powdered sugar.

(I imagined something like this... XD)

First, you pin a giant rat of snarled-up synthetic hair to your head; then you spray-tease-spray all your real hair around it. Needless to say I spent the next day in the shower conditioning it all out, but it was totally worth it! I've been wanting to try something huge and cotton-candy-like ever since I saw this illustration!

Someday I'll fill my hair with candy and Sanrio characters too...

My makeup is mostly the Tarina Tarantino line, which is gorgeous and perfect for girls with pink hair! Its iridescent undertones minimize redness and give a shining pale luminescence that girls with pink hair crave. I have to get some for my own makeup bag! And yes, my makeup included a heart-shaped beauty mark below my left eye!

All of the I Do Declare creations were gorgeous! There were several marionettes, with painted-on 'jaw-droppers', several toy soldiers, and a few other dolls and Nutcracker-like ladies (such as the beautiful model who sported a pink Rococo dress!)

My favorite kind of modeling is runway - it takes a crazy burst of self-confidence, a throbbing musical beat, and a crowd you can't make out but you know is there. It's such a rush.

The dress I wore was a lolified version of a Rococo-period dress. It's actually the same one as worn in Dalin of La Vida Frills' thesis film, La Fille De L'avenir (The Daughter of the Future). I Do Declare designed all the costumes for the film! Mine was made of beautiful sage fabric, which made a great compliment to my hair color and wild makeup. There were even matching shoes! Here I am with Crystal of Pretty Wonderland in a cute pink salopette, and Dalin of La Vida Frills modeling another I Do Declare dress of pink and mint stripes, accented with black velvet. She made a stunning marionette!

There are more photos of the fashion show, as well as some photos of the ballet and musical dance performances, such as Nutcracker Rouge and the Minsky Sisters.

I had a wonderful time, it was even snowing that night in New York City! Christmas magic!

I love your makeup with heart-shaped beauty, but I am afriad I can't do that well, since if you don't have good skill, the stylish look can be broken.

I really enjoy reading your post but there is something that kinda bothers me and this time I couldn't stay quiet since it's about somebody I know. I think you should credit the pictures you post on your blog. Camilla would be quite offended you didn't credit her. Thanks in advance and congrats on your blog.

In case you are wondering what I am talking about, it's the art. Camilla D'Errico drew it and I personally don't think it's enough to credit the source, if you don't credit the artist.

You look so pretty! That looks like a lot of fun :) I love that picture with the pink-haired girl who's decorated with Hello Kitty and friends.
