Lolita Add-a-Charm

A special new series going up on Lolita Charm! As I explained in my Mission Statement, which you can read in the archives, Lolita Charm has a dual meaning. It first means, a pleasant attitude and polish that is attributed to 'charm school' - but it is also the cute, physical, tiny things that make a Lolita extra special, like the metal star hanging from the tip of a hairbow.

This series is going to be a set of very easy craft tutorials on making your own Lolita Charm!(r) (just kidding!) bracelet. The charms can also be applied to cellphone charms, necklaces, earrings, keychains, anything you want. Personally I'll be making a charm bracelet, but feel free to mix it up. Each article will teach a new charm.

Today's Charm!

Lolitas Piss Glitter

You will need:

-a small glass or plastic crafts bottle, which can be found at craft or scrapbooking stores;
-glitter in your color, I'm using opalescent white so that it will go with lots of things;
-a rhinestone, mine are self-adhesive;
-small piece of paper in a corresponding color - use white for an easy neutral, or black if you're more Gothic;
-a corresponding pen, or font in your color choice;
-a short length of ribbon, probably about four inches long;
-glue and/or clear nail polish
-optional: tiny pearls or glass seed beads
-lobster claw
-jump loop, jewelry hook (optional as needed)

The first thing is to fill your little bottle with your choice of glitter. Use a scrap of paper for a funnel and pour some in - enough so that the contents will swish. Add your seed beads or pearls. Put in the cork, with added glue or clear nail polish for an ultimate seal!

Choose your phrase! Mine is the slightly edgy 'Lolitas piss glitter'. Other options are 'Drink Me', 'Poison', 'XXX' (like old poison bottles), or even the more cliche 'fairy dust'. If you're into Japanese or French, you could make your saying in either language. If you have much love for this blog (do you?!), you could make it say Lolita Charm, but that's obviously not necessary.

Write or print out your phrase, in text tiny enough to fit on your bottle. Affix with the clear nail polish. Then at the throat of the bottle, stick on or use your clear nail polish to glue on the rhinestone.

Use the length of ribbon to tie a tiny bow! This can be to scale or comically overlarge. You can add some glitter embroidery threads around the neck if you want. You could also add a tiny bell.

My cork has a golden jump loop in the cork, but if yours doesn't, use a little ribbon around the neck to make a loop or stick a jewelry hook into the cork. Then connect the lobster claw to the hook. This makes the item movable onto almost anything.

So, here is your first Lolita Add-a-Charm! Photos will be coming when the light is better.

Post your photos when you're done too!

Once again, a brilliant idea :) I have two little potion bottles that I took from a hotel room because they were too cute to just store shampoo :D This is a great idea for how to use them! That, or making a fairy house like I saw somewhere else. My ideal thing would be to make real drinkable potions (out of powerade) if I could find clean little bottles. So cool to hang them from a belt :)
