New Year's Resolutions!

My resolution for the new year is to take daily Lolita photos! I wear Lolita on any day when I'm not going to be lounging at home (which means, pink sweats & a Hello Kitty jacket), but I almost never take pictures. To help with my resolution, I'm learning to use my complicated digital camera better, including timer and tripod. So expect to see more of my face around LC!

Saturday was my friend's baby shower, so of course I had to play it up with cupcakes and teddy bears!

Today's theme: Domestic Cutie!

Outfit Credits:

Apron, skirt: Metamorphose
Blouse: Angelic Pretty
Shoes: Secret Shop
Socks: offbrand
Bow: Innocent World [modded by me]
Bear 'Vicki' pin, cupcake clips [not shown]: the 80s, offbrand
Cupcake earrings [not shown]: Claires, plus offbrand charm [modded by me]

I also tried a few new things with my hair and makeup. The high pigtails are fresh because my hair has just gotten long enough! I tried to curl them, but my curling iron is too big - hence, it looks more like I forgot to straighten them. I also teased them a little for fluffitude. My makeup included brown kohl to round out my eyes, and taking a tip from Vol. 4 of the English GLB, I added gold eyeshadow to the outer 2/3s of my eyelid.

Since I added a 'modded by me' edit, I'll explain my brand-modding secrets. My very first piece of brand was a white Innocent World hairbow on a band. I wore it with everything for the first two years of my Lolita life! I was pretty heartbroken when it finally came off the band base. So I stitched it to an empty barrette back and it's had a new lease on life. I haven't thrown out a single piece of brand yet - I prefer to recycle it into something else, or to fix it. It's too expensive to participate in a throwaway culture. As I said last week, I've darned my socks with holes, too. Regular socks you might just throw out, but as the recession gets deeper, there seems to be more interest in saving at new levels - or old-fashioned levels, like our grandparents did in the 30s and 40s.
