Quaintrelle Quadrille

I was inspired by Vivien Hoffpauir's new world of style, the quaintrelle, and decided to give it a go yesterday! Lately, my style has started taking influences from fairy-kei, himegyaru, natural-kei, and mori girl - all mixed together with a big scoop of lolita. I will never stop wearing lolita, but I love to play with these other elements and see other people playing with them as well - so I joined my_quaintrelle, a community very much like daily_lolita but aimed at all of the whimsical, fairytale fashions. If you've ever worried that your outfit isn't quite lolita - if you've been playing with maybe too many crayons in your drawing, so to speak - this is the place for you! I can't wait to see how my_quaintrelle evolves as more girls begin to bring their own visions of fairytales and sugarplums to the mix. Here's my fairytale:

Skirt & bustier: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright
Socks: Alice and the Pirates
Shoes: Harajuku Lovers
Bag: Betseyville by Betsey Johnson
Blouse: I don't remember now, but I wore it to a middle-school dance with my first love... and yes, it still fits!

Little grey bow: handmade!

I made this little bow in about two or three days, it's pretty easy! It should be much easier, as I'm a terrible knitter. It's simply a stockinette stitch, 25 stitches across, with a pink crocheted flower stitched to the center. The center of the bow is a lucky mishap - I started with 10 stitches and somehow ended with 25, but that was just what I needed to manipulate it into a little grey bow! Then it is stitched to a hair clip. I love textured things in winter :) Hopefully this inspires you to make your own little knitty bows!

WOW! this is super cool! I mean, I allways say you should express yourself allways and I hate when they tell you how to wear your clothes ¬¬
Is it your hair? I LOVE that colour! I died it wine red but now is like red-orange-blond(my real colour)

Kisses from Spain! :3

Victoria, your hair looks marvellous! It looks rich in texture and healthy, even if you've probably dyed it a thousand times, of a thousand colours! And it's not the typical neon pink shade you see in your everyday unconventional woman. :)

My idea ofa quaintrelle is just... me, me and my silly world of fashion. I wish I had a camera.

Thanks for the community link. I think I have fashion commitment issues as well. Even though it's not economical or space-efficient, I can't just commit to one fashion.

Thank you for the link! I've been having a fashion-identity-crisis. And I love the bow! Now I just have to figure out how to crochet one (since I don't knit)!

@Courtney Riddle: aw, glad you like it! join! post! :3 and knitty bows are soooo cute, I love them! <3

@Himemiya: I'd love to write about fashion identity crisis, I had a bit of one myself recently. I think a lot of lolitas are feeling it right now, as we've seen a lot of lolita 'refuges' coming over the morigirls. People have the same sense of aeschetics but want to be more playful, more experimenting, less in-the-box... and I think that's a good thing :D

I'm sure there is a way to a crochet them! I'm not very good at crochet either, but it can't be too bad. Essentially make a rectangle and then fold it into a bow and then stitch in place :)

Your hair is popple pink! I am excited to read about your hair-dye experiences, especially as a fellow pink-head.
